Palto started from a simple frustration: applying for jobs has become a one-way conversation. You spend hours on a tailored application, send it off, and hear nothing — sometimes for weeks, often forever.

We don't think that's anyone's fault in particular. Hiring teams are stretched, inboxes overflow, and the volume of applications has made silence the default. But the cost lands squarely on candidates, who are left guessing what's normal and taking the quiet personally.

Palto is our small attempt to change that. By giving people a calm place to track what they've sent and what came back, we hope to shift the search from anxious guesswork to something closer to honest data. Over time, anonymised insight from the community will help everyone see how companies actually behave — not just how they describe themselves.
